Periodontics

Protect and Maintain Your Gum Health
Healthy gums are essential for a strong foundation for your teeth and overall oral health. At Dameron Family Dental, our periodontics services are designed to prevent, diagnose, and treat gum disease, ensuring that your gums and teeth remain in optimal condition. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing comprehensive periodontal care to help you achieve and maintain a healthy smile.

What Is Periodontics?
Periodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum disease and other conditions affecting the supporting structures of the teeth, including the bone and connective tissues. Proper periodontal care is crucial for maintaining the health and stability of your teeth and preventing more serious oral health issues.

Common Periodontal Conditions
  1. Gingivitis: The earliest stage of gum disease, gingivitis is characterized by redness, swelling, and bleeding of the gums. It is usually caused by plaque buildup and can often be reversed with good oral hygiene and professional cleanings.
  2. Periodontitis: If gingivitis is left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease. Periodontitis involves deeper infection that can damage the bone and tissues supporting the teeth, leading to gum recession, pockets between teeth and gums, and tooth mobility.
  3. Receding Gums: Gum recession occurs when the gum tissue pulls away from the teeth, exposing the roots. This condition can lead to sensitivity, increased risk of decay, and aesthetic concerns.

Preventing Gum Disease
  1. Brush and Floss Regularly: Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss daily to remove plaque and food particles that can contribute to gum disease.
  2. Maintain a Healthy Diet: A balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals supports gum health. Avoid excessive sugar and tobacco use, which can increase the risk of gum disease.
  3. Regular Dental Visits: Regular check-ups and professional cleanings are essential for early detection and prevention of gum disease. We can monitor your gum health and provide personalized advice for maintaining optimal oral hygiene.
